CLEFT HOUSE

A "sky patio" hidden within the roofline provides an inviting exterior/interior space while dampening road noise.

Coastal zoning required keeping remnants of two 400sf 1940s houses to avoid punitive new setbacks. The new metal building stands astride pivotal artifacts of the old houses.

The dynamism of challenging these constraints led to an idiosyncratic “green” project reflecting the vibrant and quirky Venice neighborhood.
